A Potential Lottery-Pick Could Be The New Orleans Pelicans Future Shooting Guard.

The season is officially over for the New Orleans Pelicans meaning it’s time for the team to turn their focus to the offseason. This means evaluating NBA Draft prospects to search for the next wave of future Pelicans.

Although many media experts have pegged the 2020 NBA Draft as one of the weaker drafts in recent years, the Pelicans’ front office might like this draft thanks to the abundance of potential high-end role players.

The draft is now scheduled for October 16th and the Pelicans hold the 13th pick. That means in a draft that’s shrouded by uncertainty thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pelicans will have their work cut out for them in the pre-draft process to find the right contributor.

With the 13th pick in the draft, one player who could be the contributor New Orleans is looking for is Texas Tech shooting guard Jahmi’us Ramsey.

Now I know what many of you are thinking, “Really a shooting guard? We already have Jrue Holiday and Nickel Alexander-Walker on the roster”. I understand the concern, but Jahmi’us Ramsey could be a better fit with the New Orleans Pelicans’ young cornerstones.

The problem with the New Orleans Pelicans’ shooting guard position now is that both Holiday and Alexander-Walker play best with the ball in their hands. With the future of the franchise residing in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson it might be best for the team to acquire an off-ball shooting guard for the future.

Out of all the interesting talents at the shooting guard position, Jahmi’us Ramsey might be best for what the Pelicans are looking to do. He’s just the kind of player the New Orleans Pelicans should want to surround their young cornerstones with.
