A new possibility for the New Orleans Pelicans’ head coaching job has emerged.
So far, the New Orleans Pelicans are not leaking any information about their search for a new head coach.
It’s been pretty impressive actually, as David Griffin has his camp on lockdown and no one is talking.
This leads to a lot of open speculation, including a recent tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski that could involve the New Orleans Pelicans:
Woj didn’t mention New Orleans by name, but there aren’t that many teams looking for coaches, so they are likely one of these front offices.
Of course, Juwan Howard immediately fired back, attempting to put an end to these rumors:
It’s hard to know what to make of this, as Howard obviously isn’t going to admit that he’d like to jump to the NBA, even if that is true.
Howard has been an NBA head coaching candidate in the past, interviewing with both the Lakers and Cavs before eventually taking the job at the University of Michigan.
Howard seems happy at his alma mater and is on a five year contract, so it’s possible he is being 100% truthful when he says he’s not interested.
But just about every coach who has ever been hired for anything said the same thing just before leaving and taking a better job, so I am going to assume Howard could be swayed with the right team and the right offer.
Are the New Orleans Pelicans that team?
Howard has the resume to get a shot if he wants one, and there are some ways that he fits into what the Pelicans are doing.
Let’s take a look at Howard’s resume and how he could fit as the New Orleans Pelicans’ head coach.
