New Orleans Pelicans: A Trade with the Bucks that Makes Sense
The New Orleans Pelicans should trade for a former player.
If you watched the New Orleans Pelicans in the bubble, one thing was clear: They need to get bigger and tougher.
The Pelicans were pushed around by bigger teams all season, didn’t really have a true center or rim protector and it showed, as they were near the bottom of the league in points allowed in the paint.
They were missing that glue guy, the player who does all of the little things that contribute to winning basketball but don’t necessarily show up in the stat sheets.
Another thing that was painfully obvious is that the Pelicans may need to move on from Nicolo Melli, or at least bring in some competition for his minutes, as he lost his shooting touch in February and doesn’t provide the defense or rim protection the Pels need.
There are few unrestricted free agents that the Pelicans can realistically afford who are going to bring the kinds of attributes they need to take the next step and make the playoffs.
But there are some trades sitting out there, and not just the blockbusters involving Lonzo Ball or Jrue Holiday, that could help this team immensely without completely overhauling the roster.
There is even one former player that the Pelicans could target in a trade, who would bring the toughness, team defense and hard picks the Pelicans need out of big man.
There is one trade sitting out there with the Milwaukee Bucks that would be perfect for the New Orleans Pelicans.
