The New Orleans Pelicans should consider giving Dave Joerger one last shot at being a head coach
Coming into the NBA offseason the biggest void that the New Orleans Pelicans have is not on their roster, it’s their head coaching vacancy. The Pelicans need to find the right person to lead their organization or else they’ll risk wasting their young core’s talents as they did with Anthony Davis in the past.
The improvements needed on this team’s roster aren’t major ones. If we’re being honest, this New Orleans Pelicans team would’ve made the playoffs with the roster as currently constructed if they received better coaching.
That’s why finding the next head coach is so crucial to this team’s success. It’s also why we’ve written about this never-ending coaching search to the point where Pelicans fans are struggling to keep track of who’s who in the candidate pool.
With that being said, there’s one former head coach who I haven’t stopped thinking about since I wrote that the New Orleans Pelicans need to slow their pace down in 2021. He was the coach of the team I mentioned in that article, and he’s available right now.
What he brings to the table is a track record of coaching younger teams, and a history of coaching teams to play a variety of styles. That head coach is Dave Joerger.
