New Orleans Pelicans: Analyzing Jrue Holiday to the Bucks
By Nick Alvarez
The New Orleans Pelicans can get the Milwaukee Bucks to overpay for Jrue Holiday
Oh, man! Right after I finished writing about a potential scenario for the New Orleans Pelicans to move on from Jrue Holiday, things got even crazier in the 2020 NBA playoffs.
In a game I thought they would win, the Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Miami Heat in blowout fashion 115-100. That means it’s time to admit that the Miami Heat are not the team who will need Jrue Holiday, the Milwaukee Bucks are.
Why the Bucks need to acquire Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans
For the Milwaukee Bucks, it’s looking like it will be the second year in a row where this team falls short of expectations in the playoffs. After having the best record in the regular season the past two seasons, and the soon-to-be two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo on their roster, that’s not acceptable.
Being a small-market team like the New Orleans Pelicans, the Milwaukee Bucks find themselves in a situation where if they can’t breakthrough in the NBA playoffs then they’ll risk losing their franchise star in Giannis. This situation isn’t much different from the one the Pelicans just came out of with Anthony Davis.
With the Bucks are to make some changes after this season, Jrue Holiday could go to Milwaukee and be the missing piece the team needs. If he comes in and gets the team to reach a higher ceiling, that means Giannis will be more willing to stay with the organization. Here’s how it’d work.
