The Brooklyn Nets can add a dynamic player to complete their core if they acquire Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans

Connecting this Jrue Holiday landing spot to some current news, I feel like Holiday fits what the Brooklyn Nets are building specifically after they hired head coach Steve Nash.

As things stand at the moment, we don’t know exactly what Steve Nash’s system will look like in Brooklyn but with his history playing for the Phoenix Suns and consulting for the Golden State Warriors we can assume some similarities will be drawn from there.

This means that just like those Suns teams of the early 2000s and the recent Golden State Warriors run, Nash will need a strong defensive shooting guard to add to stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Jrue Holiday would fit perfectly into that role. Yes, he’s nearing the downturn of his career but for at least the next couple of season, Holiday should bring a strong defensive impact to the other stars in Brooklyn.

On the offensive side of the ball, I think Jrue Holiday also fits better in Brooklyn than he does in New Orleans. Frankly, Jrue Holiday would be a better fit then a lot of the stars the Nets are reportedly targeting because he doesn’t care about how many shots he gets.

He would be the perfect guy to cut to the basket when the defense gives too much attention to Durant and Irving. If Nash wants, he could even play Holiday at the point for some instances or with a second unit as the primary scorer.

Think of Holiday’s presence in Brooklyn as similar to how the Warriors used Klay Thompson on the second unit or how the Suns used to utilize guys like Leandro Barbosa, Joe Johnson, and Raja Bell.
