Ranking the top-30 prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft on their ability to make instant contributions in the league

Hey there! Welcome to the second edition of the Pelican Debrief 2020 NBA Draft Big Board. This is where we rank the prospects in the upcoming draft without taking account of team needs, or any other factors around the league.

Last month, in the first edition of our 2020 NBA Draft Big Board I took a wide view ranking the top 50 prospects in this upcoming draft from a pure talent standpoint. It accounted for a mix of factors including an analysis of where each player was now and their projected path in the future. Feel free to still give it a read!

In this month’s edition of the Big Board, we’re doing things a little differently. I’m removing 20 prospects from the analysis this month, leaving us with the top-30 players. The rankings no longer account for future potential either, this is a strict ranking of which players will be ready to contribute from day one in the league.

You will notice that some of the consensus top prospects will fall in this ranking and some projected first-round picks are not present. That’s because I’m designing this ranking to give people a view of NBA ready players and not players who will need a couple of years of development.

With that being said, let’s jump into this!
