NBA insider Tom Haberstroh sees a match between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been involved in a ton of trade rumors and the season isn’t even over.

Most of them involve Lonzo Ball or Jrue Holiday, which makes sense considering they have overlapping skillsets and each could fetch a nice return.

This is especially true of Jrue Holiday, who has been hypothetically traded to everyone from the Warriors to the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets or Indiana Pacers.

But NBA insider Tom Haberstroh thinks it is the Warriors who will pursue Holiday most aggressively this offseason.

Here’s what he had to say, while speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area:

"“I think they are going to obviously try to get Jrue Holiday in New Orleans… Jrue Holiday is an elite perimeter defender, he may not have made All-Defense but I think he is right up there with the best perimeter defenders in the league, and I think he’d be a great fit next to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.”"

He went on to say that while the Warriors may want Jrue Holiday, he won’t come cheap:

"“He’s not going to come cheaply, so in order to get someone like Jrue Holiday, you’ll have to give up assets, and certainly David Griffin would be asking for a boatload of whatever the Golden State Warriors have.”"

New Orleans Pelicans: A hypothetical trade sending Jrue Holiday to the Warriors.

If the Warriors want Jrue Holiday they would almost certainly have to give up Andrew Wiggins or Draymond Green to make the money work. Green is unlikely to move, so Wiggins would probably be the guy.

Would Wiggins and the #2 pick in the draft be enough to get the Pelicans to move on from their franchise leader?

In my opinion, this would be one of the better packages the Pels could get, as they would not only be getting a young wing in Wiggins, but could potentially grab someone like James Wiseman or LaMelo Ball with the #2 pick.

There is a lot to like about a starting lineup of Lonzo Ball, Wiggins, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson and James Wiseman, as they would be long and much-improved defensively.

It really depends on how the Pelicans view Wiggins, who is talented but may not be worth the max deal that he already received.

It’s an interesting conversation that I am sure the Pelicans and Warriors will be having at some point.
