Be the GM: New Orleans Pelicans trade with Detroit Pistons for #7 pick in the NBA Draft

Trading for the #7 pick

Congrats! You have just used some of your assets to move up in the draft and grab a low-cost contributor in Bruce Brown.

You make this move if you really want to improve the Pelicans’ defense, as Brown can guard 1-3 and they’d still have the seventh pick to grab additional impact talent.

Brown can play some point guard, so he might be your answer at backup and could potentially improve the Pels’ woeful defense. You are thin at center and will have to make additional moves, but this one doesn’t cost you any cap space.

This is the type of low-level trade that could potentially make the Pelicans better without disrupting their core.

Defense matters in the NBA and this move could improve the Pels’, depending on who you take in the draft.
