The New Orleans Pelicans trade Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee Bucks? Unlikely

Why the Pelicans would do it

They wouldn’t.

If the Pelicans wanted to trade Jrue Holiday, there will be better offers than two washed-up thirty-somethings, a marginal prospect and a crappy draft pick, sorry Bucks. Not to mention the Pelicans would be taking on an extra year of Eric Bledsoe, which earns a big fat  NO WAY.

But to play along, there is the foundation of deal here. Bledsoe would somewhat replace Holiday’s defense, though his offense is way behind. Ilyasova is a nice role player, even at 33, and would give the Pels some much-needed size and depth at the forward position.

Divincenzo has not been very good so far and doesn’t do the one thing he was supposed to be able to do, which is shoot the 3-pointer. He shot just 33.6 percent from 3-point range this season, below league average for a shooting guard.

Even if DiVincenzo turns out to be a decent 3-and-D type, he is not a high ceiling prospect and wouldn’t move the needle for the Pelicans.

In other words, this trade ain’t happening.

In fact, of all the teams rumored to covet Holiday, the Bucks are the least likely trade partner, as they don’t have many useful players on the right side of 30 that the Pelicans would want.

The Bucks also have complicated draft capital as pretty much all of their future 1st round picks are protected and could be conveyed to Cleveland.

There may be some small moves between the Pels and Bucks, such as sending Nicolo Melli to Milwaukee in exchange for Robin Lopez, but I don’t see a Holiday trade with the Bucks’ limited assets.

Any team that wants Holiday is going to have to pay up, and it will take much more than this to get him.
