New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Finding the next Duncan Robinson
New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Jake Toolson could be the next Duncan Robinson
Jake Toolson’s strengths
Jake Toolson is a 6-foot-5 guard who averaged 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals in his senior season for the Cougars.
Toolson was a transfer who had to sit out a year, so he is already 24-years-old, which won’t help his draft standing.
If Toolson makes an NBA roster it is because he does one thing extremely well and that is shoot the 3-point shot.
Toolson hit 47 percent of his long-range shots on 5.7 attempts per game, numbers that should translate to the next level, especially given his size.
Toolson has perfect form, a quick release and can already knock them down from NBA 3-point range, in fact, Toolson’s range pretty much starts when he enters the gym. Here he is knocking some down from deep while he was still a junior at Utah Valley.
He’s a decent rebounder for his position, has active hands on defense and is a smart enough team defender not to get killed on that end.
Toolson has one elite NBA skill, but is that enough to get him to the NBA?
