New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Detroit Pistons

Trade with the Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are low on talent but do have a couple of players who are interesting fits with the New Orleans Pelicans.

I particularly like Bruce Brown, a defensive-minded combo guard who can defend multiple spots and would help improve the Pelicans’ defense. If the Pelicans could get him for one of their young guys and a second-round pick, the Pistons would have to consider it, as they are going nowhere and Brown only has one year left on his deal.

Pelicans’ fans may think this is too much to give up, but Brown could step in and play right away and is already a very good defender.

He could play some on the ball with the second unit and pairs well with either Jrue Holiday or Lonzo Ball. Brown would give the Pelicans an elite defensive backcourt and adds some toughness to a Pelicans team that needs it.

The Pistons get a project in NAW who fits well with the timeline of their other young players. They also get another pick in this draft that they can use to attempt and add additional talent.

The Pistons are desperate for any amount of talent and the Pels are desperate for defense, so this one makes a whole lot of sense for both teams.
