New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Milwaukee Bucks

Trade with the Milwaukee Bucks

There are a few possibilities when it comes to the Bucks, depending on what they want to do with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Many believe Giannis will bounce for greener pastures when his contract is up, so the Bucks may decide to try and move him to get something before he does.

If so, there is a monster trade sitting there for Zion Williamson, but I am going to focus on smaller trades that are more likely to happen.

Here is a trade that helps both teams without disrupting the core:

With Nicolo Melli, the Bucks get more shooting to put around Giannis. Melli is a stretch-four who can hit the long-range shot when he is dialed in and the Bucks need more scoring.

Lopez barely got off the bench for the Bucks in the playoffs, so they would essentially be trading a guy who doesn’t play for someone who could contribute.

The Pelicans trade Melli in for a defensive-minded center who is a great team defender, rebounder and screen setter. RoLo also brings some much-needed size and toughness to the interior, where the Pelicans got killed this season.

This trade helps a weakness for both teams and is one of my favorite lowkey moves for the New Orleans Pelicans this offseason. They need to trade Melli for a defender one way or another.
