New Orleans Pelicans: 2 Top Market Centers to Target in Free Agency
New Orleans Pelicans: Free-agent center targets, Serge Ibaka
Center Target #1- Serge Ibaka
What Serge Provides
- Shooting
- Energy
- Defensive Presence
- Experience
- Winning Mentality
Serge Ibaka had a stellar season for the defending champion Toronto Raptors this season. Coming off the bench most games, he managed to average 15.4 PPG, 8.2 RPG, while shooting 39% from the 3-point line.
Having a center that can stretch the floor is very important and valuable in today’s game. Adding Ibaka forces opposing centers to come out of the paint. This would be a huge help to Zion Williamson who relies heavily on finishing inside.
Not only can Ibaka stretch the floor, but he’s great on the defensive end as well. Listed at 7’0 240 lbs, he will be able to match up with the best of the best physically and provide elite rim protection.
Another helpful element to adding Ibaka is his experience.
He’s played for some great teams in his career, including the Oklahoma City Thunder; a team Serge went to the finals with in 2012.
And then, The Toronto Raptors; a team that he won an NBA championship with last season.
Ibaka knows what it takes to win.
Ibaka just turned 31-years-old and is on the market this off-season. While he may be a little more costly than bringing back Derrick Favors, he is much more valuable. Serge is in incredible shape and has at least another 4-5 years of solid play left in his tank.
Serge Ibaka also happens to have his own cooking show, “How Hungry Are You?”, and what better place to find amazing food then good ole’ New Orleans…
Serge Ibaka to Pelicans confirmed.
