In this scenario, the New Orleans Pelicans put the finishing touches on their 2020 NBA Draft with an astonishing second-round

Welcome back, New Orleans Pelicans fans! As you all know by now, the 2020 NBA Draft is right around the corner. To celebrate that event that kicks off the next season of Pelicans basketball, we’re focusing on draft-related content for a lot of this month.

Around our site, you’ll find a plethora of coverage from prospect profiles to mock drafts with everything in between. In this piece today, we’ll be focusing on what an ideal second-round could look like for the Pelicans in the draft.

This piece of course builds off of a piece that I recently published where we detailed what an ideal first round could look like for the Pelicans. It’s still up so feel free to check it out either before or after you read this.

For those of you who don’t have time for that, here’s a brief recap of what occurred during the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft for the New Orleans Pelicans in our hypothetical scenario.

First, we saw David Griffin successfully bluff the Boston Celtics into believing the Pelicans would take the prospect Boston wanted. Thanks to that maneuver the Pelicans were able to strike a trade, trading down to pick 14 and acquiring pick 30 in the process.

After that, we saw the Pelicans make two picks. At pick 14, the team selected fan-favorite Saddiq Bey out of Villanova to answer for some of their problems on the wing. Pick 30 then saw the team make a bold move and select TCU’s Desmond Bane for added toughness. After that compelling first round, let’s get into the second round.
