This is going to be tough with limited cap space, so the Pelicans will either try to plug their holes in the draft or use trades to get a deeper and better roster.

The Southeast Division has some interesting potential when it comes to trades. Two of the five teams made he playoffs this season and all five of the teams think they’ll be competing for playoff spots next season.

The Miami Heat have six free agents and will undoubtedly look to add additional talent in free agency after making the NBA Finals. The Magic may feel that they are just a player or two away from being in the mix in the East, and the Hornets and Hawks both have exciting young talent to build around.

Only the Washington Wizards are in limbo, but if John Wall comes back from injury and they don’t trade Bradley Beal, then the Wizards could be a playoff contender as well.

The New Orleans Pelicans don’t need to make a trade necessarily, but if they could deepen their roster, while adding some defense and size, then they should definitely listen to the offers that will be coming.
