The New Orleans Pelicans are hoping some top wing talent falls to the 2nd round of the NBA Draft.

The New Orleans Pelicans have three picks in this year’s NBA Draft and are hoping to get lucky with one of them.

Just about every year, a top talent ends up falling out of the first round for some reason or another. Either the guy has a fatal flaw in his game, has some off-the-court issues or just didn’t get the exposure they needed to be a top pick.

The Pelicans’ offseason needs are fairly clear. They need some size and depth at both forward positions, a center and possibly a backup point guard.

It isn’t going to be easy to fill all of those holes in free agency, which is why the Pels are hoping they can find some talent in the NBA Draft.

With three second-round picks, the Pelicans could go in a lot of directions. They could use each one to take a guy who has a potentially elite NBA skill like shot-blocking or 3-point shooting.

Or they could try to package all three picks to move up to the end of the first round or the beginning of the second, which they may have to do if they want to grab some impact talent.

There should be some good players who fall outside the lottery or even to the second round, which may give the Pelicans the chance to move up and get a player who could make the roster.

One such player is Jaden McDaniels out of Washington.

McDaniels is one of the most polarizing players in this draft, as some believe he is a top-five talent, while others think he will fall out of the first round entirely.

If McDaniels does fall, the Pelicans could move up and get the steal of the draft.

Let’s take a look at his game and how it might fit the New Orleans Pelicans.
