Stan Van Gundy can instantly improve these three elements of Brandon Ingram’s game for the New Orleans Pelicans next season

Stan Van Gundy’s introductory press conference set the tone for the upcoming New Orleans Pelicans season, it’s all about development and winning. We’ve already talked about how this upcoming season will affect Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson, and now it’s time to get to the team’s third young star, Brandon Ingram.

Ingram, was the Pelicans’ best player last season, no question about it. In what was a breakout year, he averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists a night, becoming one of the NBA’s top forwards. Now, on the verge of a new contract, I think there’s still room for Ingram to grow.

That’s where the aforementioned Stan Van Gundy comes in. In our recent breakdown of Van Gundy’s introduction to team media, we noted David Griffin’s comments which said that the organization hired Van Gundy in part to be a teacher for the team’s young players.

After all, this is a job that Stan Van Gundy has been tasked with three times before and he has a great track record from it. Just look at the list of players who blossomed under Van Gundy, you’ll see Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Andre Drummond. That’s a solid list if you ask me.

So the real question is, what can Stan Van Gundy do with Brandon Ingram to take his game to the next level? If you’re asking me, there are three specific areas where Van Gundy can help Ingram improve. Let’s check them out.
