The Golden State Warriors are looking to win-now and could give the New Orleans Pelicans first-round picks and a former number one overall pick to do it

#3- Golden State Warriors

Potential Assets Available: 2nd pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Lottery-Protected 1st round pick in 2021, Andrew Wiggins

After a year-long hiatus, the Golden State Warriors are healthy and hoping to regain the championship crown they lost and Jrue Holiday could help them do it.

Acquiring Jrue Holiday means that the Golden State Warriors would have to give up two of their three prized assets though. It all starts with Andrew Wiggins.

For almost any deal for Jrue Holiday to work financially, the Warriors would have to trade Andrew Wiggins to the Pelicans. I’m sure the Warriors wouldn’t mind that though because they don’t view Wiggins as an asset.

In fact, a lot of people don’t think Andrew Wiggins is an asset anymore, but I do. Wiggins who was the first overall pick in 2014 hasn’t exactly lived up to his lofty expectations, but there’s still upside to his game and he’s only 25 years old. He may never become what people thought he would back when he was drafted, but there are several ways that the Pelicans could use him on their roster.

However, Wiggins isn’t really what matters in the Warriors ranking, it’s the two draft picks that do. The Warriors have the 2nd overall pick in this year’s draft and getting that pick would allow the Pelicans to acquire another player with All-Star potential. We already wrote a bit about how that scenario could play out.

Then there’s also the pick that the Warriors received from Minnesota in the D’Angelo Russell which could also turn out to be a high pick. The Warriors’ package is small but it has a lot of upside for the New Orleans Pelicans.
