New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors: Devin Booker for Jrue Holiday

Why the Suns would do it

If Booker truly wants out of Phoenix, then the Suns are in a terrible position.

Stars who demand trades often don’t get the big return, as the team trading them loses some amount of leverage when other teams know the player is unhappy.

That doesn’t mean the Suns will trade Booker, but if they did, this is the type of package they might want.

This trade keeps them in the hunt for the playoffs by replacing Booker with Holiday, who is not nearly the scorer Booker is but is a much better defender.

The Suns struggled on defense last season and Holiday would help that cause. They also struggled shooting the 3-point shot, which is why Redick is an important addition in this trade.

They also get the 13th pick to go along with the 10th pick that they already have, so could add two lottery players in addition to a first-rounder in 2022.

This trade not only keeps the Suns relevant but gives them a lot of draft assets to use in another trade or to add impact talent. They could potentially be better, as Holiday and Redick are nice fits with DeAndre Ayton.

The Suns have a chance to hit reset without tanking or blowing up their team while grabbing two impact veterans who will help the young guys develop.

It’s an offer Phoenix would consider, but how about the Pelicans?
