New Orleans Pelicans: Which team has best odds to land Jrue Holiday?
The New Orleans Pelicans are shopping Jrue Holiday but which team has the best odds to trade for him?
The New Orleans Pelicans are going to be busy over the next few weeks. Not only is the NBA Draft coming soon but free agency right after. They also have the small matter of trading Jrue Holiday.
The Pelicans are reportedly shopping Holiday, which is not a surprise, as they won’t have much cap space this offseason unless they are able to unload his contract without taking back equivalent salaries.
With the cap numbers finally released, the Pelicans now know exactly how much money they’ll have to spend in free agency, and it won’t be much unless they trade Holiday.
There are a number of teams who are reportedly interested and we’ve covered the potential trade from just about every angle.
So far, the Nets, Pacers, Warriors, Nuggets and Heat have all been mentioned in trade rumors for Jrue Holiday, but which team will land him?
New Orleans Pelicans: Odds on Jrue Holiday trades
According to an average of several online sportsbooks, there are at least eight teams who have a chance to land Jrue Holiday in a trade. That number may be greater, as the New Orleans Pelicans do a great job of preventing leaks.
The Pelicans actually have the best odds at +200, which means as of yesterday, there is a good chance he isn’t traded at all. This seems unlikely to me, especially after the grim salary cap numbers.
Next in line is the Brooklyn Nets at +350. We’ve looked at a few possible trades with the Nets and there is definitely a fit depending on how much they are willing to give up.
The next best odds is actually the Indiana Pacers at +550. The most obvious trade involves Myles Turner but the Pels could also try to get Victor Oladipo from the Pacers.
The Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets have the next best odds at +600. The potential Warriors’ trade is one we’ve talked about a lot as one of the best possible outcomes.
The Miami Heat are next at +900, though rumors to the Heat have somewhat cooled.
The Mavericks and Hawks are both listed at +1200. The Mavs seem like a longshot, as they really don’t have any assets the Pelicans would want outside of Kristaps Porzingis, who is unlikely to be offered in a trade.
The Hawks are one of my personal favorite destinations for Jrue Holiday, as the Pels could potentially construct a juggernaut between the draft assets and free-agent possibilities.
There could also be a few mystery teams out there such as the Bulls, 76ers and Suns, who would like to win next season and need a shakeup.
