The New Orleans Pelicans have the odds in their favor when it comes to NBA free agents.

The New Orleans Pelicans are involved in so many trade rumors at the moment that it is hard to concentrate on NBA free agents.

As it stands, the Pelicans won’t have much money to spend in free agency unless they trade Jrue Holiday, as has been rumored. There are several trades out there that could net the Pels a few impact players, a pick or two and get them under the cap.

Otherwise, the Pelicans will have little or no money to spend in free agency after it was announced that the salary cap would not be going up next year.

With the amount of cap space the Pelicans currently have, it is hard to see how they will land a big-name free agent, but a lot can happen between now and November 20th.

That didn’t stop one sportsbook from giving the Pelicans top odds to land some of the best free agents.

New Orleans Pelicans: Odds of landing Serge Ibaka and Joe Harris

Two of those free agents, Serge Ibaka and Joe Harris, fall into the “way out of the Pels’ price range” category unless they make one of the aforementioned trades.

Betonline.ag is giving the New Orleans Pelicans the best odds to land Serge Ibaka and the second-best odds to land Joe Harris.

The Pelicans are 2/1 favorites to land Ibaka according to betonline.ag and they have the second-best odds to get Harris at 7/2, which are both very high considering their current cap situation.

Of the two, Harris makes less sense, as they already have J.J. Redick and they would have to pay a premium to get even more elite shooting.

Serge Ibaka would be the perfect guy to put next to Zion Williamson and is atop my list of free agents for the Pelicans. If they were to move Jrue Holiday to a team like Atlanta, the Pels could easily clear enough cap space to give Ibaka a lucrative offer.

Changes are going to come quickly for the New Orleans Pelicans this year, and by this time next week, they could have a very different roster.
