The New Orleans Pelicans can begin diving into the trade market for potential deals tomorrow

Are you excited? That is the question that I can’t stop asking everyone today. I mean how could you not be excited? After a long offseason of dull moments and little to do, tomorrow and this week mark the start of New Orleans Pelicans basketball returning. Given everything people have been through, that sure feels like a holiday.

Before I get too carried away with myself though, let me clarify and breakdown with this start really means.

The tweet above from Adrian Wojnarowski pretty much sums up ESPN’s article which said that starting tomorrow at 12 pm est, NBA teams can begin making trade conversations official and making deals to move players and draft capital. 

This is major news for the New Orleans Pelicans because they’ve pretty much been wrapped up in trade rumors all offseason. For the most part, those rumors have been whispers but as we’ve drawn closer to tomorrow, they feel like screams.

As every Pelicans fan knows, a majority of these rumors surround Jrue Holiday. Contending teams like the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, and Denver Nuggets all seem to be pining for his services while the young up-and-coming Atlanta Hawks are making a bid too. 

Where will Jrue Holiday be traded to? And what will he be traded for? Those are major questions that might get actual answers rather than speculation as soon as tomorrow. Of course, that’s not all that could happen.

Every year, it seems like some teams end up pulling off deals that come out of thin air. It’s not magic more than just two smart teams with a knack for keeping their business under wraps. We can consider the New Orleans Pelicans one of those teams given how quietly they conducted their head coaching search, and it wouldn’t shock me if the team does something bold.

What’s actually in store? No one knows yet, but every New Orleans Pelicans fan is sure to spend the next week pacing around their houses and clenching their fists because this is only the beginning of what’s sure to be a week that’ll shape this team going forward.
