The New Orleans Pelicans might need a new trade partner for Jrue Holiday if the Nets get Harden.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been involved in just about every offseason trade rumor after announcing that they were shopping Jrue Holiday.

As many as ten teams have reportedly shown interest in a Jrue Holiday trade, so the Pelicans should be able to get a haul for the guard when they finally do move him.

Over the last few days, rumors started to emerge that one of the potential suitors for Holiday has a bigger deal in mind.

The Brooklyn Nets are now reportedly going after former MVP James Harden to add to their duo of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

If Brooklyn does end up getting Harden, then clearly they will no longer be after Jrue Holiday, but the Pelicans still have plenty of options to choose from.

Who is the best trade partner for the New Orleans Pelicans and Jrue Holiday?

We’ve outlined a number of potential trades for Jrue Holiday, but here are the top rumors as of right now:

Denver Nuggets: With the Nets potentially out, the Nuggets would probably move to the top of the list of trade partners. The Pels would certainly love to have Michael Porter Jr., Gary Harris and a pick but the Nuggets might balk at including MPJ.

Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks reportedly want to win now and would love to put a defensive veteran guard with Trae Young. Some combination of Kevin Huerter and the #6 pick could get it done. This is one of my favorite choices for the Pelicans, as they could potentially rebuild their roster with the cap space they clear.

Golden State Warriors: The Warriors would love to add another quality player to their “Big 3” as well as some insurance against future injuries to Stephen Curry. They might offer up Andrew Wiggins and the #2 pick if they are serious.

Boston Celtics: The Celtics have only recently emerged as a potential trade partner with the Pelicans. Would some combination of Gordon Hayward and a lottery pick get it done?

Indiana Pacers: Myles Turner has long been rumored as a trade target for the Pelicans and it makes sense, as he can protect the rim and stretch the floor, two things the Pelicans are looking for in a big man. The question is whether the Pacers would have enough without bringing in a third team.

These are just the rumors we know about but there are likely even more teams involved. This decision could reshape the roster for years to come, so the Pelicans need to get it right.

They should go after the deal that gets them a young player or two, future draft assets and cap space if they want to maximize Jrue Holiday’s value.
