In honor of Thanksgiving, we look at three players that every New Orleans Pelicans fan should be grateful for

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to all the fans out there. We hope that all of you are staying safe and having a great day surrounded by people you care about. Unfortunately, there’s no basketball to watch or talk about on this holiday, but we can give some thanks of our own to the New Orleans Pelicans organization.

For this year, we decided that we would choose three Pelicans players who we’re especially thankful for at the moment. That doesn’t mean that we aren’t thankful for the entire organization and all the players on the roster, we’re just looking at three players specifically who stood out to us. Let’s get into it!

It might be the wrong holiday since it feels like Christmas came early, but we’re thankful for the New Orleans Pelicans’ acquisition of Steven Adams

#3- Steven Adams

Ah, the Big Kiwi! This year’s New Orleans Pelicans roster just wouldn’t feel complete without Steven Adams, and he hasn’t even played a single game yet. Maybe we should be saying we’re thankful for David Griffin, after all, he did acquire all three players on this list.

Anyways, the real reason Pelicans have to be thankful for Steven Adams at the moment, is the fact that he’s a physical force in the paint and hopefully the organization’s solution to the roster’s awful interior defense.

If Steven Adams wasn’t on the roster right now, the Pelicans center depth chart would only include Jaxson Hayes and Willy Hernangomez, and that’s not a playoff-caliber duo.

Speaking of the playoffs, Adams’ addition to the team gives the organization a strong hope that they can make the playoffs this season. Though it’s fair to say that Derrick Favor’s addition last year caused the same feeling, it’s just different with Adams given the type of player he is.

Lastly, Adams is a person who wants to embrace New Orleans and be in the community, this evidenced by the fact that he agreed to a 2-year extension with the team for less money when if he went to free agency next offseason, he could’ve earned a near-max contract.

Now let’s get to the 158 million dollar man.
