Zion Williamson saved the New Orleans Pelicans from one of their biggest heartbreaks ever, and he proved that he’s a player worth building around

#1- Zion Williamson

Was there ever a question that Zion Williamson would be the player topping this list? I mean come one, he is the face of the franchise and there’s no question about it. So let’s give thanks to him.

Last season was a difficult one for Williamson, after being injured to start his rookie year, many fans grew scared and nervous that his career might get derailed before it even begins. Then he emerged and played great during the later part of the season, only for COVID-19 to shut down the NBA and force Williamson out of his routine. That made for a rough outing for the young star in the bubble.

For dealing with that adversity alone we should be thankful for Zion Williamson, but also because he essentially saved this organization. Last season, Anthony Davis forced his way out of New Orleans and shunned Pelicans fans on the way out the door.

Getting the 1st overall pick and selecting Zion Williamson made fans forget about Davis just a little, and the production he gave the organization last season proved that he might be just as good as Davis down the line.

Considering Zion’s unique body which makes him a massive force in the NBA, the bright future of the franchise is on his shoulders. For this team to reach championship glory, he needs to be their best player. That’s a tough burden for anyone, especially someone who’s barely a man at 20 years old. We should be thankful that Williamson is carrying that pressure with grace and confidence.

There it is, just highlighting three New Orleans Pelicans who deserve some thanks this year. With next season right around the corner, it’s a good time to be happy and hopeful for what 2021 will bring, and great to spread a little positivity today.
