Zion Williamson should have a monster season for the New Orleans Pelicans.

The New Orleans Pelicans are expecting big things out of second-year star Zion Williamson.

The 20-year-old phenom flashed a glimpse of his future superstardom in the preseason, putting up huge numbers and playing big minutes.

Minutes will be the key for Zion Williamson this season, as he is finally off restrictions and looks ready to play 30+ minutes a game as he did in both preseason wins.

Obviously, any and all predictions for what Zion Williamson’s season will look like will hinge on his health. If Zion is healthy, he is going to dominate, it’s that simple.

So I am furiously knocking on wood whilst writing this because if Zion doesn’t stay healthy, nothing else matters.

Here are five bold predictions about Zion Williamson’s 2020-21 season for the New Orleans Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelicans: Predictions about Zion Williamson

Prediction #1

Zion Williamson will score 30 points per game

Zion was able to average 22.5 points and 6.3 rebounds last season on a bum knee without a training camp, practice or really knowing how to play basketball.

The teenager got his on raw talent alone, which is still how he is going to get most of his points. Zion scores as effortlessly as I’ve ever seen, rumbling into the lane for layup after layup without the Pels really even calling a play for him.

He’s going to play upwards of 30 minutes a game this season, which will increase his scoring average by a few points. Zion actually looked stronger late in the preseason games, like a big running back who spent the game wearing the defense down.

Stan Van Gundy also has him focused on nuance and the details of the game, which should help him get additional buckets in the half-court.

All of this will lead to a big bump in his scoring average, and Zion will get 30 (or close) per game this season.
