The New Orleans Pelicans should see if Will Magnay can make an impact on the team’s frontcourt after early-season struggles

Right when people were starting to raise their expectations for the New Orleans Pelicans, the Miami Heat came and brought them right back to reality. Simply put, the Pelicans got trucked on Christmas yesterday, losing to the Heat 111-98.

A lot of things went wrong for the Pelicans during the game. First and foremost, the team failed to get a handle on Miami’s shooters, and the Tyler Herro-Duncan Robinson combination torched them. That indicated that even when Jimmy Butler left the game with an injury, Miami was still able to score on the Pelicans.

What was worse though, is that the Heat exposed the Pelicans’ lack of depth. The Pelicans starters all had productive nights, but beyond them, no one else stepped up. Nicolo Melli couldn’t stop anyone and shot the ball poorly, while Sindarius Thornwell looked like a G-League player, and Jaxson Hayes played like a baby giraffe.

That play in the frontcourt was especially terrifying. As soon as Steven Adams and Zion Williamson left the floor, their interior fell apart on both ends of the floor. Miami knew it too and that’s how they won the game. So the question becomes who will step for the Pelicans frontcourt? And is there even a player on the roster capable of stepping forward?

I think the answer to those questions could be, Will Magnay!
