The New Orleans Pelicans could use the bench scoring of Derrick Rose.

The New Orleans Pelicans have gotten off to a 4-5 start that has left fans frustrated.

While it is far too early to panic, it’s not too early to say that the Pels’ bench has been one of the worst in the NBA and doesn’t seem to have any answers.

J.J. Redick and Josh Hart hit four 3-pointers apiece in the recent loss to the Charlotte Hornets, so hopefully, that is going to change soon, but thus far, the bench has been the Pels’ glaring weakness.

Redick has had the worst shooting slump of his career. Nicoll Melli hasn’t been able to get off the bench. Jaxson Hayes is not ready, though he has shown some promise and Nickeil Alexander-Walker probably needs more consistent minutes if he is ever going to be a contributor and right now his shot selection is making that difficult.

Rookie Kira Lewis Jr. hasn’t been able to crack the rotation and the Pelicans have gotten zilch from anyone else.

They need a boost of scoring off th bench so that they aren’t constantly blowing leads. Could Derrick Rose be the answer?

New Orleans Pelicans: Trading for Derrick Rose would improve the bench

The Detroit Pistons may end up in a bidding war for the services of Derrick Rose, who is an 18 point per game scorer for his career and can still get it done. He’s also on a team-friendly contract that is in its final year, so there is no long-term risk or big financial obligation.

Rose is dealing with a minor injury at the moment, so obviously, he needs to get a few games under his belt before any trade could happen.

Here’s one that makes sense for both teams:

In this trade, the Pelicans deal some of their bench depth to get a guy who is ready to play now and can contribute.

Who says no?
