New Orleans Pelicans: Someone other than Nicolo Melli needs to play

Some new faces off the bench

Nicolo Melli is listed as day-to-day and will likely be a game-time decision vs. the Lakers. I would never wish injury on any player, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if Melli had to miss a game or two.

Maybe it will help him get on track. He has been awful shooting the ball dating back to last season and really doesn’t do anything else, so who knows, a couple of days off might do him some good.

SVG has had his hands tied this season, as his bench has given him next to nothing but there are still some options he hasn’t tried.

With Melli possibly out, we may finally get to see Wenyen Gabriel, who has been cleared to play for a while but still hasn’t gotten off the bench.

This makes sense, as he has to get back into game shape, but with Melli out, SVG might not have any other options.

I really don’t care at this point. I’d rather see Sindarius Thornwell or even one of the two-way players rather than suffer another night of watching Melli.

This is going to be a problem until somebody steps up or the Pelicans make a trade but it’s time to at least try something new.
