The New Orleans Pelicans should consider trading for Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets

Call me crazy, but as I’ve watched the New Orleans Pelicans over the course of their last several games, it’s become clear to me that this team needs another shotmaker. They already have one in Brandon Ingram, but in today’s NBA it’s become clear that be a legitimate contender, you need at least two.

Unfortunately for the Pelicans, there are not many elite shotmaking players available often. Right now, it seems like the big fish that everyone is chasing is the Washington Wizards’, Bradley Beal.

Beal is only 27 and seems to be growing frustrated on a bad Wizards team. However, Beal hasn’t requested a trade yet, and no one knows if the Wizards would even be open to trading him since he has 2 years left on his contract.

So what if the Pelicans take a risk? What if an All-Star point guard becomes available because the team he’s on now is sick of his off-court behavior? That’s right, if he’s available, the New Orleans Pelicans should consider making a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving.

It might sound crazy, but given the Nets’ recent trade for James Harden, here’s why trading for Kyrie Irving might make sense for a young Pelicans team looking to win sooner rather than later.
