New Orleans Pelicans: The Pels’ lottery odds

There’s always the draft

I hate to be that guy, but let’s face it, a lot of fans enjoy the trades, free agency and draft as much as they do the actual games.

It has become the second season of the NBA and is the primary reason people talk about the NBA all year long.

The Pelicans are currently 4th in NBA lottery odds, which would give them a 48 percent chance at a top-4 pick and a 12.5 percent chance at the number one overall.

The 2020 NBA Draft was deep and there may be some stars in it but there was not even a consensus on who the top-5 was and there still isn’t.

The 2021 draft has a couple of guys who look like near-certain stars in Cade Cunningham and Jalen Suggs.

The top-ten of this draft looks loaded, so it wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Pelicans (who have two picks in this draft) to have one in the lottery.

It’s too early to think this way but go watch some Cunningham highlights and tell me you wouldn’t want to see him next to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

The New Orleans Pelicans have not been fun to watch but it is not over yet and there are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Next. 5 Pelicans most likely to be traded before the deadline. dark
