New Orleans Pelicans: Can the Pels hold a big lead?

If you’ve watched the New Orleans Pelicans much this season then you have seen a reoccurring theme.

The Pels get out a double-digit lead, give it all back, and then spend the rest of the game trying to reclaim it.

This is largely because their bench is one of the worst in the NBA and often coughs up double-digit leads that the starters build in the first and third quarters.

The Pels once again blew a 15-point lead to the Trail Blazers, which was about the least shocking part of the game.

The bench has been horrible, but so is the Pelicans’ defense, which is why no lead is safe in their hands.

The Pels also seem to go away from what got them the lead in the first place, which is energy on the defensive end and ball movement, instead preferring to go with isolation plays as if they can just run out the clock.

That doesn’t work in the NBA, so another big question is whether the Pels can actually hold the lead if they do get one against the Suns.

The New Orleans Pelicans still have a lot of questions to answer this season and they can start tonight against the Phoenix Suns.
