New Orleans Pelicans: Two value bets to make vs. the Celtics

The New Orleans Pelicans have been a hard team to bet this season, as they usually either get blown out or blow the other team out, making point spreads irrelevant.

But betting on the players has been a good source of value, as the Pels have several guys who are putting up numbers.

The Pels also score a ton of points and don’t play defense, so there is almost no point total that is too high to stay away from.

Here are two bets that I like against the Boston Celtics. Remember, I am not a professional sharp so take this advice with a grain of salt and always bet responsibly.

New Orleans Pelicans: Lonzo Ball will have more than 19 combined points and rebounds

Lonzo Ball has been on fire lately and when a player is hot you ride him until he isn’t.

I’ve made some decent coin betting on Lonzo’s point totals and will continue to make those bets until he cools off.

He is -112 to have over 19 combined points and rebounds. You never really know what Lonzo’s stat lines are going to look like, but lately he has been the Pels’ third scoring option and I see no reason that is going to change.

Lonzo has scored 21 points in each of the last two games and with Marcus Smart out, he is primed for another big game against Boston.

New Orleans Pelicans: Bet the over!

Boston is just 12th in the league in defense while the New Orleans Pelicans are 21st overall but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The Pelicans have let up 126 and 132 in their last two games and will still likely be missing Steven Adams. The Celtics gave up over 120 in both their recent games against the Hawks and will be missing one of their best defenders as well.

In other words, there is almost no point total that would be too high to run away from. I’d hammer the over at 232.5 and sit back and enjoy. This game could be one where both teams are in the 130’s.

The New Orleans Pelicans may not be winning but that doesn’t mean bettors have to be left out, as there is still value to be had in this team.
