New Orleans Pelicans: Power ranking Zion Williamson’s best dunks of the season
1. New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson might be the best dunker in the NBA
The time has finally come.
This, in my opinion, is Zion Williamson’s best dunk of the year so far. It showcases everything you want to see from an all-star talent and shows off all the tools that make Williamson the New Orleans Pelicans’ best player less than a full NBA season into his career.
It seems like the Chicago Bulls have been the bane of the Pelicans’ existence this season. New Orleans has lost both of their games against the Bulls and the last one was a particularly demoralizing loss. But, among the positives, it left Pels fans with an incredible dunk.
It starts with a classic grab-and-go situation as Williamson starts handling the ball in his own half of the court. He quickly springs into action, crossing over Garrett Temple and evading Thaddeus Young. Finally, Williamson gets to the rim.
After showing off his ball handling skills, Williamson gets up and catches a body. He absolutely pulverizes Daniel Gafford and then jogs back down the court nonchalantly. It’s almost as if this comes too easy for him. In truth? It might.
Williamson will represent the Pelicans this Sunday in the NBA’s all-star game as part of Kevin Durant’s team. With this, one could argue that he has already lived up to the hype as a number one pick. New Orleans fans will be happy to see one of their star players participate in the all-star game for an eighth consecutive year, but also hope there is even more to come from Williamson in the next few months and definitely years.
If you think I missed any of Williamson’s best dunks, please let us know. It’s always a good time looking back at some of his most explosive plays. For all we know, his best dunk might come this Sunday.
