New Orleans Pelicans: Dinwiddie and Claxton would help the Pels’ depth

The New Orleans Pelicans have one of the worst benches in the NBA and could desperately use an injection of depth and talent.

Spencer Dinwiddie is injured and out for the season, so he would be a risk, but one worth taking, especially if they could get him for Redick and a couple of 2nd-round picks. Dinwiddie was a 20 ppg. scorer last season and would be a massive upgrade for their bench or a guy they could even play along Lonzo Ball in the starting unit.

Claxton would be pure speculation, as he has not done much in the NBA yet but has flashed the potential to be an impact modern big man.

He is currently nothing more than a Per-36 legend who hasn’t played much and would give them some competition for Jaxson Hayes, who hasn’t done much either.

This is one way to add some impact depth without messing with the core of the team and would still leave the New Orleans Pelicans in the position to re-sign Lonzo Ball at the end of the season.

Trading for an injured player is always a risk but it is one the Pels should take, as they could get one of the best bench players in the NBA for essentially nothing while building for the future at the same time.
