What New Orleans Pelicans are featured on Top Shot?

It’s no surprise the most expensive moment for sale is of Zion Williamson ($210,000 lowest ask), surprisingly it’s not a dunk. The moment is actually a block against the Nuggets and there are only 49 of these moments available to own. That kind of scarcity combined with a sick highlight is bound to hold its value for a very long time. The surprising thing was that eight of the twelve most expensive Pelican moments for sale featured Zion (all prices are as of this writing).

Of all the New Orleans Pelicans’ moments for sale, only one belongs to someone no longer with the team, Jrue Holiday. That means nearly every Pelicans’ moment is from a player currently on the roster and there are some interesting long-term plays you could make if you have some extra cash. If you’re feeling a little nostalgic for last season a Holiday moment may be right up your alley, although it’ll cost you a pretty penny with the lowest ask coming at $187.

A lot of Top Shot is speculating, so if you are high on a player buy one of their moments (the lower the serial number and total in circulation the better) and hold onto it for a while. For instance, there are Kira Lewis Jr and Nickeil Alexander-Walker moments available on the marketplace. If you feel either could become a star it might make sense to scoop up an available moment and let it sit on your figurative shelf for all the internet to see.

Players on rookie contracts see their values rise a little higher than players on a second deal. Of course, this is what you’d expect given they still have time to break out in a big way and there are fewer moments to choose from. That makes acquiring these moments more challenging as there is high demand in the hopes you could flip the moment after a big game from the rookie.

For instance, Lewis’ first and only moment so far will cost at least $224 to add to your collection. The flashes we’ve seen from Kira this season could be enough for this moment to retain its current selling point but if Lewis falls out of the rotation entirely this valuation could drop significantly.

NAW is sort of the opposite at Lewis right now. With two moments on the market, the price of the cheapest moment is $34. Quite the dip compared to Lewis. Nickeil, never one to be outdone, sees the value of his other moment at a nice $330. This has to do with the rarity of the moment. As a player chosen for the on-paper Rising Stars game, NAW got a Rising Stars moment. The kicker is this card is needed to complete a challenge on the site, another factor in raising the cost.

Josh Hart is known for being very big into gaming as well as being very engaging online in general. A few weeks ago Hart sort of light a match on this new Top Shot boom by announcing he would be streaming a pack break on his twitch channel (don’t ask me what all that means because I don’t really know). But because many of his viewers were either already collectors or became collectors after watching, his moments are valued higher than you may have expected.

Brandon Ingram, the reigning Most Improved Player, has pretty much been priced out of the average collector’s price range, his cheapest moment is listed at $435. That price point may be due in part to him now having an award to his name and breaching the All-Star conversation for the foreseeable (oh to have bought in just a year ago).

If you’re looking for some more reasonably priced moments for a player whose value could climb towards the heights of Ingram and Zion, Lonzo Ball is your guy. It seems the value of moments can be affected by players signing new contracts in addition to good play on the court. This is where Lonzo hits it out of the park, after starting off the season cold, Ball has been on fire the last month and a half, this sets him up for a high-priced free agency this summer.

Another factor working in favor of Lonzo is just how popular he is. The values of both Ball brother’s moments will be higher than normal because they have legions of fans following their every move.

Are there any New Orleans Pelicans to buy for cheap?
