Zion Williamson is only in his second season for the New Orleans Pelicans but he already has a signature shoe.

We got our first preview of Zion Williamson’s Jordan Z Code sneakers this week, which drew mixed reviews from sneaker heads on Twitter.

Here’s what they look like:

Some people instantly liked them, while others just used them as another reason to complain about Zion Williamson being overrated:

Whether Zion has a sneaker has nothing to do with Luka Doncic, so let’s move on.

Other people just didn’t like the bold colorway and complained that the shoe was made for kids:

Well, I am over 18 (by a LONG way), and have every intention of buying these once they drop. Here’s why.

New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson’s shoe is unique

I am not a sneaker head and really don’t understand the culture of paying sometimes thousands of dollars for a pair of sneakers, but I do occasionally splash out for ones that I like.

Zion Williamson has a strong case for Most Improved Player. light. Related Story

What struck me about Zion’s shoe is that I’ve not really seen anything that is totally like it. There have been some colorful shoes with a “graffiti” style pattern but these stand out as unique and I love the big “Z” on the side.

Zion Williamson is a singular talent in the NBA and there has never been anyone like him, so it makes sense that his shoe has the same energy.

Zion Williamson Z Code: I will buy these shoes just to spite the haters

I love watching basketball. The older I get, the less I care about the things that young fans seem to obsess about, starting with the BLANK > BLANK culture on Twitter.

Why can’t we celebrate Zion Williamson and Luka Doncic? Do we have to hate one because we like the other? I do miss team rivalries that have been replaced by player “Stans” who care more about the perception around their guy than the actual games.

I have never seen people so heated over a sneaker and the daily unjustified hatred Zion Williamson gets on social media is a phenomenon I just don’t understand. Even if you don’t like the New Orleans Pelicans, how can you not enjoy seeing Zion play?

Even more baffling are the people who don’t “understand” why the Pels are on national TV so much while their team isn’t, even though the ratings show them exactly why.

The hate comes with being great, so I guess Zion should get used to it, but this basketball fan loves watching him play and am going to rep him by wearing his kicks.

I hope they are designed for fat feet

I have big fat feet, especially for my height (take from that what you will). After watching Zion blow out his sneakers at Duke, my first thought was “someone is going to build an indestructible shoe for people with fat feet, I can’t wait!”

I am hoping the Jordan brand used some kind of NASA technology to reinforce these bad boys so that guys like me can wear them for more than a week without the foot dough spilling out the sides.

Zion Williamson is a unique athlete with a unique pair of shoes that fit with the colorful culture of the New Orleans Pelicans and I plan to make them the most uncool shoes ever by rocking them all summer.

Next. Jalen Johnson could be the next Pelican from Duke. dark
