New Orleans Pelicans: It’s late-season gut check time

For many of the New Orleans Pelicans, this is the deepest they’ve ever been in an NBA season.

The Pels are going through injuries to Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Nickeil Alexander-Walker and just got Brandon Ingram back, so it’s been a struggle of late as Stan Van Gundy juggles lineups trying to find something that works.

Some credit has to be given to the much-maligned Eric Bledsoe, who hasn’t been great this season but has been solid and has been a steadying hand in the Pels’ ever-changing starting five.

They will be playing a back-to-back against a team that likes to run and will be doing it shorthanded, so it is time to see what the New Orleans Pelicans are made of.

Zion Williamson has put them on his back lately and the Pels have gotten surprising contributions from James Johnson and Naji Marshall, who is starting to look like a future replacement for Josh Hart.

But they need guys to continue to step up, especially tonight, when it would be very easy for the Pels to have a letdown after a big comeback win.

The New Orleans Pelicans are a young team, so this will be a good test for them. Do they have what it takes to bear down and get some wins against teams they should beat?

We will soon find out.
