Being a New Orleans Pelicans fan is full of highs and lows and this season has tested even the most patient among us.

This week’s back to back with the Golden State Warriors brought out every emotion we Pelicans fans have had throughout the season. From the sighs and confusion over the play on Monday to the cheers over Lonzo Ball’s big night on Tuesday, we definitely have the full range of emotions.

Starting off the season, there were high hopes of a playoff run. With Zion Williamson fully healthy, Brandon Ingram coming off an amazing All-Star season, Ball looking more comfortable, trades that brought in veterans Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe and the addition of Kira Lewis, Jr. in the draft, the fanbase was definitely looking forward to what could be a historic year for this team.

But then, reality set in. And things didn’t go quite as well as we expected.

Heck, even Pelicans superfans are fed up with the ups and downs of this season.

New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson has kept hope alive

Throughout the highs and lows, there have been some constants, including the continued improvement and largely consistent play of Zion. It’s obvious every game his improvement as he continues to give some outstanding plays for us to discuss on social media.

In both games against the Warriors this week, he certainly provided some snapshots of greatness.

Overall, this team is not out of it, since they still have a chance to make the play-in games.

As we all know, the season has been a bit of a disappointment for us fans and, I’m sure, even more so for those on the team. However, there is still that glimmer of hope for some sort of playoff run this season.

The fans that have stuck with this team through surprising wins, confusing losses, frustrating injuries and coaching decisions that literally every single fan has questioned will be given at least an exciting end of the season as this team does whatever it can to try and stay alive for the play-in games.

There are many ways to explain what this year as a Pelicans fan means, but one I think captures it all: fun. At the very least, this team is fun to watch and hopefully that translates into some wins over the last few games of the season!
