New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson’s durability

Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram were two of the most durable and productive duos in the NBA up until the final stretch of the season when both had to miss some games due to injury.

Zion’s durability was in question after last season but he proved the doubters wrong by playing in 61 of the 72 games.

Zion’s injury was just bad luck, as he fractured his finger, but he was starting to show some signs of fatigue before the injury and had (for him) a couple of “off” nights when he didn’t shoot 50 percent from the field.

Though he proved he can handle most of a short season, Zion Williamson should have the goal of playing in a full 82 game season if the NBA decides to go back to that.  I actually liked the 72 game season and hope they keep it, but if not, the New Orleans Pelicans are going to need Zion to play more like 72-75 games than 61, so I’m hoping he will come back next season in amazing shape and ready to play a full season.

This also goes back to his style of play, as Zion starts making more jumpers and getting more favorable whistles (he will) hopefully he can stop taking such a beating in the post every night.

Zion had an unbelievable second season in the NBA and is arguably a top ten player in the league already. Once he gets better defensively and adds some more nuance to his offensive game, he has the chance to be an all-time great.
