New Orleans Pelicans: What role will Trey Murphy III play against the Timberwolves?

I am very curious to see what role Trey Murphy III will play on both ends of the floor for the New Orleans Pelicans.

With Zion Williamson out, Murphy III can probably get a few more shots on the offensive end and it will be interesting to see him try to facilitate off the bounce.

I am most interested to see who he will guard on defense, as that will ultimately determine if he has a huge role in his rookie season. I could see him guarding everyone from Anthony Edwards to Karl-Anthony Towns in the first preseason game as the Pelicans experiment with small-ball lineups.

Murphy III could be the key to unlocking those lineups, as his ability to defend up might allow the Pelicans to play Ingram at shooting guard and create some mismatches.

The Trey Murphy III era starts in Minnesota tonight and I think he’s going to show that he was one of the steals of last year’s draft.
