NBA All-Star Game locations: 2024, 2025 & beyond
By Mat Issa
While not as famous as baseball’s midsummer classic, the NBA does have its own form of mid-season celebration. For many fans, we recognize this time as NBA All-Star weekend.
And one of the coolest parts of NBA All-Star weekend is that every year it takes place in a different NBA city. And it isn’t just the big market ones either. For instance, last season, it took place in Salt Lake City, Utah (home of the Utah Jazz). The year before that, it took place in Cleveland, Ohio (the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers).
So, where will this season’s All-Star weekend take place?
This season, All-Star weekend will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana (the home of the Indiana Pacers) from February 16th to 18th. Indianapolis was originally supposed to be the home of 2021 All-Star weekend, but due to public health concerns, the league was forced to reschedule. And now, the city of Indianapolis is finally getting its day in the Sun.
As of right now, the only two players on the New Orleans Pelicans roster with a real shot of participating in the actual All-Star game itself are Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, both of whom have been named to an All-Star team before. Williamson was actually named an All-Star starter last season, but he couldn’t participate in the game itself because he was dealing with a strained hamstring.
Outside of Williamson and Ingram, we could also see someone like Trey Murphy III make an appearance during All-Star weekend in one of the other events (as you’ll recall, he finished second in the Dunk Contest last season). We could also see young guys like Dyson Daniels and recently drafted Jordan Hawkins make an appearance in the Rising Stars Challenge.
What about future All-Star games? Where will those be held?
As of right now, there are still no confirmed locations for NBA All-Star Games in 2025 or beyond. However, we do have some reporting from Bleacher Reports’ Chris Haynes that suggests that the Boston Celtics are preparing to make a bid to host the 2026 All-Star event. If they were granted this request, it would be the first time they hosted an All-Star weekend since 1964 (Bill Russell was still in the heart of his prime at that point).
