The New Orleans Pelicans can make a win-now move on by acquiring Bradley Beal during the 2020 NBA Draft

With a collection of assets that includes young players brimming with potential and future draft capital, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the New Orleans Pelicans make a huge trade during the 2020 NBA Draft.

When considering recent history, it actually makes a lot of sense that this would be the draft where the Pelicans decide to strike and make a move that puts the league on notice. Just look back at recent history, when the Minnesota Timberwolves decided they wanted to contend they swung for the fences by trading for Jimmy Butler.

There’s no doubt that the Pelicans want to contend now either. Everything that team executive David Griffin has said and done has shown that. That means, of course, a big-time trade for a star player is in the cards on draft night. The question is who could that player be?

Ask me, and I’ll tell you the obvious answer is Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Over the past two seasons, Bradley Beal has transformed into two things. The first is one of the NBA’s premier guards. The second is one of the league’s most desirable trade targets, who the New Orleans Pelicans monitored last offseason.

Thanks to the flashes of greatness the young Pelicans showed this past season and the failures of the Wizards in recent years now is finally time for the Pelicans’ front office to get bold and make a splash for Bradley Beal. Here’s how it could work.
